Early history of Cache Valley scrapbook, 1923-1938.

Scrapbook containing newspaper clippings from the Journal (Logan, Utah), the Cache Valley daily herald, the Deseret news, and the Salt Lake Tribune from 1923 through approximately 1938. Most concern pioneers and early history of areas in Cache Valley. The compiler of the scrapbook is unknown; possibly it was created by Joel E. Ricks, Utah State University history professor.

Joel Edward Ricks was born October 18, 1889 at Rexburg, Fremont County, Idaho the son of Nathan and Sarah Ann Taylor Ricks. In 1908 Ricks enrolled at the University of Utah and graduated in 1912 with a BA in History. He then took a teaching position at South Sanpete High School at Gunnison, Utah where he taught and served as the school's principal until 1917.
